this hands-on workshop is designed for complete beginners and anyone looking to learn the essential sewing techniques used in garment making and everyday sewing projects. you’ll be introduced to both hand sewing and machine sewing techniques while learning how to confidently and safely set up and operate a sewing machine, all while strengthening your foundational sewing skills in a relaxed and supportive environment.

what to expect:

• essential hand sewing techniques

• how to thread and set up a sewing machine

• how to confidently operate a sewing machine

• understanding stitch controls and basic machine functions

• sewing straight lines, seams, and corners

• how to change sewing machine feet

• how to insert and sew zips

• introduction to seams and seam allowances

• practical sewing tips for improving accuracy and finish
  

by the end of the workshop, you’ll feel more confident using a sewing machine and have a strong understanding of the core techniques needed for future sewing projects.

what to expect:

• each participant will have a sewing machine provided for them

• we’ll finish the session with a complimentary glass of fizz (non-alcoholic option available)
