Alter Your Own Clothes - Full Day

experience level: beginner - intermediate 

a fun, practical, and beginner friendly introduction to clothing alterations. suitable for complete beginners and those with some sewing experience, you'll learn how to alter, repair, and transform garments you already own. this hands on workshop covers essential alteration techniques including hemming, tapering, shortening, lengthening, improving garment fit, sewing machine basics, measuring, fitting, and professional finishing methods. you'll leave with the confidence and skills to assess, plan, and carry out alterations on your own clothing.

what you'll learn:

• how to thread a sewing machine and bobbin
• confidence using a sewing machine
• different methods of alteration and how to do them
• understand how clothing should fit the body

each workshop is capped at 4 students per session to ensure individual attention, space to practise, and personalised guidance throughout.

some sewing experience is helpful but not essential. we’ll move at a pace that’s comfortable for everyone.

please note we will not be covering denim in this workshop , as it is more specialised and will be taught in a separate dedicated session.

what to expect:

• a supportive learning environment (only 4 people to each session)

• please arrive 10 minutes before your chosen time slot to get settled in

• all equipment, tools and a notebook are provided for you

• bring your own garments to work on (this can be provided if you don’t have one that needs altering)

• each participant will have a sewing machine provided for them 

• want to learn on your own machine? bring it along! just let me know in advance via instant chat, email, or Instagram DM

• a complimentary glass of fizz (non-alcoholic alternative) during the final 15 minutes each session
